Daniel Oyarzabal was born in Vitoria in 1972 and graduated with honours in the specialties of harpsichord and organ. He later enrolled in advanced studies in organ, harpsichord and historical instruments at the Conservatory of Music in Vienna with Thomas Schmögner and earned a postgraduate degree in organ with Jos Van der Kooy and a bachelor's degree in harpsichord with Patrick Ayrton at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague (Holland). At the same time, he attended specialization courses with Pierre Hantaï, Jacques Ogg, Michael Posch, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Michael Radulescu, Hans Fagius and Oliver Latry. He also concentrated on J.S. Bach's music at the Conservatory of Amsterdam under Pieter van Dijk. He was awarded the Special Press Prize at the National Exhibition for Young Performers in Ibiza in 1991, First Prize for Improvisation at the International Music Competition in Rome in 1998 and Third Prize in the Nineteenth International Organ Competition of Nijmegen (Holland) in 2002, the only Spanish organist to win an award in the competition's twenty-one years of history. He has performed in a number of international festivals, both as a soloist and continuist, performing in concerts all over Europe and Japan. He has been featured as an organ soloist at the Sixth Due Organi in Concerto Festival of Milan, the International Orgelkonzert Cycle of Copenhagen, the Pleno Organo Festival of Vienna and the International Orgel Festival of the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam. His most outstanding projects for this year include a performance of the Goldberg Variations by J.S. Bach in several cities in Spain, Amsterdam, Vienna and Berlin. He has been organist of the German Church in Madrid since 2006.
